New Year Resolutions 2006
I said I wouldn't talk about the resolutions until 06, but I forgot about time zones. So anyway, since it's already 06 in some other country :
New Year Resolutions 2006 :
1. Run a Marathon
I'm not aiming for timing yet, because of the lesson from 2 years ago, where I injured myself aiming too high. You just can't rush certain things, especially when you're getting older.
2. Run the Half-Marathon in sub 1:50
I ran the half-marathon in 2:10 this year, but I walked almost 5k (less than that, prolly). I'm sure I can do a 1:45 at least, but just to be safe, I aim for 1:50 first - don't want to get injured before the AHM. I suppose the main challenge is to keep running.
3. To get into the top 10 in Japanese (Intermediate)
I got 21 / 441 this year - next year I'll get into the top ten. Oooh yes I will.
4. To pass with at least a distinction for the LCCI Diploma
Shouldn't be too difficult if I study. After all, I have a commerce background. The lessons are a drag though - too slow for my liking, and too much pointless chatter.
5. To get a firm grounding in the first year for the Marketing Degree.
This is slightly harder, since they cover plenty of stuff in the first year. It's like going through the 'A' Levels all over again, just in express mode. And I stuffed all the notes I made into the storeroom, which is so cramped and unaccessible you couldn't step one step into it.
6. To learn to handle Depersonalization better
Room for Improvement, definitely. I did, however, notice that the lack of supplements does affect me somewhat. It's not dependency, rather the fact that the supplements aided me in the fighting of DP. I can't afford them now though, so I guess I'll have to make do without.
7. To become stronger
20 chin-ups in one shot; 100 push-ups in one shot (not consecutively)Definitely achievable if I train consistently.
8. To maintain agility and speed
Next year I'll go for increasing agility and speed. Though slightly harder with my body breaking down already, I think I can push it if I'm well-conditioned enough.
9. To get along with colleagues (New or current) and do well in job
Always a challenge to me, especially due to DP. Plus the "getting along" part is always hard if the person irritates me.
10. To maintain unshakeable courage in the face of adversity
Ha, I think for the next 3-4 years this will be a regular on my resolution list. In fact, if the degree programme comes along well, and I manage to do well enough in the Japanese Advanced 1 next year, I intend to go for my driving license as well, once the diploma ends. In other words, the next 3 years I will be studying like hell. Come the 4th year, I'll find out exactly how much worth is the investment I'm making now. I'll need a will of steel to get through these next 4 years to 2010.
